Interview with Dr. Francesca Torriani
FT: Yes. I got two adjustments prior to the injection.
After the first one I might have felt some improvement.
After the second adjustment there was definitely decreased
pain. I could sleep for the first time on my tummy in more
than a year and I didn’t have to elevate my arm at night.
So definitely after the second adjustment there was
improvement, and I would say after probably the fifth
adjustment I could feel the benefit of the visits from you.
DK: Now the thing you’re telling about dropping things,
can you give me an example of that?
FT: I think that was due mainly to decrease, not so
much of sensation, but of decreased muscle strength.
For example, I would reach for a glass of wine to wash
that was on my extreme right-hand-side, extend my arm
and drop it in the movement. I would just drop it, not
because of pain but just because something…
DK: Lack of strength or lack of connection?
FT: Yeah, or just lack of coordination in some ways, and
then I couldn’t open and still have difficulties in opening
cans, in opening bottles because I am right-handed and
that’s where I’ve lost my strength.
Now it is a question of rebuilding muscle.
DK: So you think the muscle is just still weak, and now
that has to build stronger again?
FT: Right, there’s less muscle on the right side than on
the left side. There should be more muscle on the right
side because I am right side dominant. That needs to
rebuild. If you have compression of the nerve, which was
evidenced by an EMG, so it wasn’t subjective, it was an
objective finding, then clearly you have loss of muscle.
DK: Yes.
