It is funny that I have never actually been in a chiropractic office
in LA. It has been decades since I lived there, but no matter
how long I am away from Los Angeles the place still
pumps through my veins.
One of my chiropractic internet heros has a
LA Chiropractic
office.
There must actually be thousands of chiropractic offices in LA.
The city is so big that when I was a kid I would come back
from the beach, and just wander for hours, turning right,
turning left, ending up on streets that I would never see again.
I remember once I did some rough calculations and figured out that
if you drove your car in a grid, covering every street in Los Angeles
county, it would take you almost an entire life time just to drive
across every little street.
During that time I predict thousands of chiropractic offices
would arrive, thrive and disappear there. I can not even imagine how
my experience growing up in Los Angeles would have changed if
I had owned a Garmin navigation system like I have now.
It would have made it easier to find my way back, but infinitely
harder to get lost. One of my best memories was off on a far flung
street, somewhere south of east LA, I stopped in an all Hispanic
neighborhood, still wearing my trunks from the beach, and stopped
at a taco shop, not much different than the thousands of other ones.
But each one would have something just a little different about it.
One with a hint of rosemary in the meat. Another using fresh limes
squeezed on the chicken on the grill. Another marinated the vegetables
with shrimp. Always just a little different.
How many chiropractors in LA have sat at taco stands planning out how
they were going to help thousands more people than they had before.
How many people have gotten lost in the streets and stopped at a friendly
chiropractic office for an adjustment.
Wait a second. I can not remember for the life of me where it was. I do
remember after chiropractic college driving on the freeway in LA
with my shoulders and neck in terrific pain, pulling off the freeway
and finding a random office, and getting adjusted,
feeling great and back on the road.
Maybe next time growing up, I will wander the streets of LA sampling
the LA chiropractic offices instead of burritos!
